This week’s Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races featured the Nissan GT-R at Watkins Glen, Gr.4s at Spa-Francorchamps and Gr3s at Autopolis.
The Race B’s obvious car of choice is another Nissan, this time the GT-R Gr.4. Fortunately, Race C managed to restore balance, but the recommended car is still quite familiar…
In terms of track, we visited the aforementioned Watkins Glen in New York State in Race A, with trips to Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and Autopolis in Japan for races B and C respectively.

As a reminder, we are now using GT7’s new Balance of Performance (BoP) system, which was introduced in the July v1.19 update. BoP is now divided into three categories depending on the type of track used: High speed (H), Medium speed (M) and Low speed (L).
Starting May 30, Race A performance will not affect players’ Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR), so feel free to race as hard as you like…
RACE A

Watkins Glen is one of the most popular race tracks in North America with fans and drivers alike. High-speed curved corners provide lots of challenges and tight races. And with Race A featuring an identical Nissan GT-R grille, the action couldn’t be closer.
Unlike the famous ‘Boot’ layout from “The Glen”, this race is held on the Short Course variant. More commonly used by the NASCAR series, this track cuts through the four corners of a longer track layout, but still offers plenty of opportunities for side-by-side action.
Nissan’s GT-R model type first earned the nickname Godzilla thanks to its dominance in Australian motorsport – the R32 Skyline being the first GT-R to be exported by the marque under it. The car was eventually dropped from Australia’s top touring car championship due to its dominance but the car is still a huge success in Japanese motorsport.
The moniker has stuck with the next GT-R and it’s easy to see why. Huge power – 592 bhp – coupled with terrifying corner speed and hefty 1725kg mass ensure the 2017 GT-R NISMO maintains its Godzillian reputation.

B race

Continuing the Nissan theme, a great favorite for this Gr.4 blast around Spa-Francorchamps is the fictional Nissan GT-R Gr.4.
The Gr.4 race BoP has consistently been the subject of debate since the inception of the GT7 Daily Race and once again four-wheel drive cars have a huge advantage over the other available options.
In theory, the open sweeps and long straights on Belgium’s most famous tracks should negate the total traction advantage, but Nissan is ahead of the road in the competition. It’s certainly disappointing, but at least fans can enjoy this rarely used crime track in GT7’s online mode.
Race B uses the High-speed (H) BoP format.

C race

We’ve seen plenty of Porsche 911 RSR (991) Gr.3 cars in GT7’s Daily Races and in Race C it’s once again the car of choice.
Based on the highly successful GTE race car, Porsche has excellent handling and impressive traction. However, with 6x the fuel consumption, a level of caution needs to be exercised during this 25 minute test.
Some adjustments to the fuel map and/or lift and shore techniques can be used to increase fuel mileage but it’s hard to focus on these when negotiating Autopolis’ notoriously tortuous 2.9 mile layout.
Race C uses the Mid-speed (M) BoP format.

Lap Time Challenge

The Lap Time Challenge is currently taking place at the Autodrome Lago Maggiore – Full Course, using a Nissan Z Performance ’23.
The new Lap Time Challenge will start on September 29th.
