UUM Student Found Dead In Dormitory Room, Believed To Have Suffered From Electric Shock

ALOR SETAR: A second year accounting student, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) was found dead in his dormitory room, believed to be due to electric shock on Saturday.

Kubang Pasu District Police Chief, Superintendent Rodzi Abu Hassan said, as of Tuesday, Vinosiny Sivakumar’s death was classified as a sudden death (SDR).

“We are still waiting for the results of the autopsy from Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Alor Setar,” he said here, on Tuesday.

Meanwhile report MalaysiaKini quoting the victim’s father, R Sivakumar, 65, said the new victim returned to campus a week ago after studying online since the COVID-19 pandemic struck.

According to him, when the UUM management contacted him at about 3 pm last Saturday, he was only informed that the victim had fallen and was unconscious.

“They did not explain in detail and did not tell me what really happened. After I asked several times whether there were any indications that my son was still alive or not, they only told me that he had died, ”he said.

Sivakumar added, he also could not enter his dormitory room to check because it was already closed.

“The police just gave me his wallet and identity card,” he added.

According to him, the 20 -year -old victim was buried in Klang on Monday.

Sivakumar added that he wanted to get the truth behind his son’s death, as no explanation was given by the UUM management and the police.

She also claimed there were obvious burn marks on her son’s face and right hand, as well as two of his fingers were blackish purple when doctors showed the deceased’s body to him at the hospital.

“I am quite upset with the university for not stating it clearly when they informed me of this. Tragedy has happened, I just want the truth. I want to know the cause (electric shock). I don’t want anything wrong to happen.

“I don’t want the same thing to happen to other students. I’m sure there is something wrong with the facilities at the university, but will the university admit it? ” the question again.-AA
