Jakarta, Nawacita. – The National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo threatened to remove his personnel involved in ‘deposits’. Sigit emphasized that this ‘deposit’ creates illegal levies (extortion).
The ‘deposit’ in question is the giving of money by members to the commander or his superiors. Sigit insists this behavior should be eliminated.
“Of course, those of us who are superiors also have to reduce things or eliminate things that make members then choose the reason for doing extortion, because the reason is to make a deposit to their superiors. Please remove this,” said Sigit, as seen by detikcom from his Instagram account, Monday (24/10/2022).

This was revealed by Sigit when giving directions to the heads of regional units (kasatwil) in 34 regional and regional police stations. Briefing is done via video conferencing
Sigit then mentioned the motivation of subordinates to deposit money to their superiors in the hope of getting a better chance at school or position. Sigit also confirmed that he would arrest those who used their names to lure schools and positions.
“I think Pak As SDM has done there is no such thing as wanting to go to a paid school, wanting to get a paid position. And I checked this at Headquarters, nothing like that. Including if someone brings up my name, please arrest me, report it,” said Sigit.

Sigit repeated his instructions to eliminate the behavior of ‘deposits’ for the sake of position or school opportunities. “We agree that at Headquarters there is nothing like that. Please at the Polres do the same thing,” said Sigit.
“There is no place to place a position, you have to pay. There is nothing to get someone to go to school, they have to pay for it,” added this former Police Criminal Investigation Officer.
Sigit ordered all his staff to give an objective assessment of each member, according to their achievements and performance.

“Give an objective assessment related to his achievements, propose. And we from Headquarters will also see the same thing. Eliminate things like that,” continued Sigit.
He emphasized that the names of police officers who received positions or schools by way of ‘deposits’ would have their promotions cancelled. This is done, continued Sigit, so that the Police will be better.
“So if I hear, for example, my colleagues, maybe because they can’t do it right away, then people pass by and then pay, I write them off. I canceled it because this is related to our commitment going forward to be better,” he said
“Therefore, I ask Propam to really monitor if there are things like that. If it’s still there, I lower Propam, I’ll take it off immediately. Please pay attention to this!” Sigit concluded.
