The Five Best Prospects From Poland

We did it two years ago and we’re back. We’re always scouring the globe for the best MMA prospects, country by country. This week, we take a look at five top prospects from Poland.

Our original Scouting the Globe series featured the following five Polish talents:

  • Cezary Kesik is 1-2 in the last three games.
  • Mateusz Rebecki, who is fighting in the Contenders series this season.
  • Unbeaten Dawid Smielowski in the KSW cage.
  • Mateusz Legierski, who returned to the board last month.
  • Mateusz Gamrot is No. 9 in the UFC lightweight category.

who is the next? let’s see.

Lightweight, Mateusz Rebecki (15-1)

He was on the list two years ago, and now he’s back. Mateusz Rebecki is the current Fight Exclusive Night (FEN) lightweight champion with seven defending titles.

Crazy enough, Rebecki had to pass a Contenders series to get into the UFC. Rebecki is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a two-time gold medalist at ADCC (Poland). He has been preparing for the UFC for the past five years. Rebecki was a bit one-dimensional at one point, just a grappler. Now he’s slowly developing a compelling game, mostly with a lot of power. He’s too dangerous on the mat, top and bottom.

Rebecki was scheduled to have a fight in the Contenders series on August 9th, though that appears to have been delayed, and is now rumored to be August 30th.
