Amazing Elisa playing at Fantastic Fest 2022
Sadrac González-Perellón is the writer and director Amazing Elisa (title org amazing elisa). Prior to making this film, Sadrac González-Perellón wrote and directed the sci-fi horror film. Black Hollow Cage (2017) and the “Kill Santa” segment of the horror comedy anthology Dead (2019).
Amazing Elisa obviously also a genre film, but saying exactly which genre is a bit more complicated. On IMDb, it is currently listed as a drama, but this is clearly unfair. I mean, there’s a reason it premiered at Fantastic Fest.
Just premiered at Fantastic Fest 2022, Amazing Elisa will be screened at the Sitges Film Festival in October 2022. Since the film was shot in Barcelona, Spain, it makes sense that it would premiere in Spanish there.
For me, there was one part of the story that didn’t work as well as the others. Lots of awesome real-life “Amazing Beatriz” scenes, but there’s at least one I can do without. To me, it’s more confusing than helping the story.
However, the part where Elisa and her father meet rsula and her husband, Héctor (Asier Etxeandia), is a powerful scene.
Amazing Elisa had its world premiere at Fantastic Fest 2022 where we caught it.
