Infosurabaya : Hundreds of Shopee Surabaya couriers who are members of the Federation of Online Activists (Fine) rallied at a number of government agency offices in Surabaya, Thursday (22/9/2022).
Their action was held to demand a tariff adjustment to Rp 2,500 per kilometer after the increase in the price of subsidized fuel which was announced by the government on September 3, 2022.
The protesters started their action by visiting the Surabaya City Transportation Office, then proceeded to the East Java Provincial Government Transportation Office.
“Later we will meet with other colleagues from Surabaya and Gresik at Bonbin (Surabaya Zoo) to continue the action to the Shopee Office,” said Agus, one of the participants in the action.

Based on observations in the field, the protesters carried out their actions by riding motorbikes and were seen wearing orange Shopee jackets, while carrying cartons bearing the words condemning their company.
When visiting the East Java Provincial Government Transportation Agency Office on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Surabaya City, the demonstrators were met by several Dishub officers. The couriers then handed over a letter containing a demand for action.
“We will convey what our colleagues demand to our leaders,” said the East Java Provincial Government Transportation Service officer, Ainur Rofiq, to the protesters.
After the meeting, the demonstrators then immediately left the location and moved to the Office of the Communication and Information Technology of the East Java Provincial Government.
In front of the convoy of protesters, a command car with the coordinator of the action gave the signal for the convoy to run in an orderly manner and not to cause traffic jams.
“Make two lines, make two lines,” shouted the action coordinator from the top of the command car.
Meanwhile, police officers continued to keep watch along the protesters’ roads. Until this news was written, the action was still running safely and smoothly.
