Biography of Shin Tae Yong
Prior to pursuing a career as a professional coach, Shin Tae Yong was also a soccer athlete by nature. He started his journey in the world of this popular sport since 1988 by joining the Yeungnam University team until 1991. At that time his position was still listed as the junior age for the midfielder role.
Then, in 1992, he explored senior melas by joining the Seongnam FC team. During this time, Tae Yong has scored 76 goals in 296 appearances. In 2005, he was also involved in the Queensland Roar FC team, but only for one game and did not score any goals.
His career as a national player for the South Korean team began in 1987 when he was 17 years old. His journey continued as he got older, until 1997 with a record 3 goals for 23 appearances. It was only in 2009 that he changed roles as a temporary coach at Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma.
His career with Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma lasted from 2009 to 2012 before he moved to the South Korean national team in 2014. Until 2018, he was still fully dedicated to his home country by coaching their team to compete in international championships.
In 2019, he left South Korea and became the coach of the Indonesian football team. Until now, Shin Tae Yong has no sign of moving again to another team. Together with the Indonesian national team, he accompanied Indonesia to the 2020 AFF Cup which was held in Singapore.
