AssassinRichard Linklater’s upcoming action comedy, starring Glen Powell and Adria Arjona, has begun shooting in New Orleans and has been supported by the ensemble cast.
Joined by Austin Amelio, who Hollywood Reporter was exclusively announced to star in the film earlier this week, is Retta (Good boyNBC’s Good girl) and Molly Bernard (tarnish, apprenticeship). The news was announced by AGC Studios, which will co-fund the film with ShivHans Pictures and Monarch Media of Shivani Rawat.
Based on a true story, Powell — who co-wrote the screenplay with Linklater based on a Texas Monthly article — plays New Orleans’ most wanted hitman. But if you’re paying him to evict a cheating spouse or a sadistic boss, you better watch out: he works for the police. When he breaks protocol to help a desperate woman (Arjona) trying to escape from an abusive boyfriend, he finds himself living the life of one of his fake personas, falling for her and seducing himself into being a criminal.
This action comedy was produced by Linklater and Michael Blizzard for Detour Pictures, Michael Costigan and Jason Bateman for Aggregate Films, and Powell for BarnStorm Productions in collaboration with Cinetic Media.
Linklater, Powell and Arjona were replaced by CAA; Amelio was defeated by UTA; Retta was represented by UTA and Silver Lining Entertainment; and Bernard represented by APA and Management D2.
