‘Organized crime of stealing people’s property involves not only Najib, Jho Low but also Apandi’

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad emphasized that the involvement of the former Attorney General, Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali, who acted as an intermediary for the fugitive businessman, Low Taek Jho (Jho Low) was very surprising.

First, Mahathir said, while serving as Attorney General, Apandi stated that there were no criminal acts related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) company and released Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at that time.

“Apandi’s attitude comes at a time when several foreign countries are taking action against banks and private individuals involved in the 1MDB crime.

“So when Pakatan Harapan (PH) took over the government, Apandi’s service was not extended because his attitude and actions in sanctifying 1MDB directly represented his failure to fulfill the mandate and responsibility of the state,” the former Prime Minister said in a statement. today.

Recently, Apandi emphasized that he was not a representative of Jho Low, but was contacted by international law firm, Kobre & Kim from Washington, USA, who asked for help arranging a meeting with the Attorney General’s Office (AGC) at the end of May.

He explained that he then arranged a series of meetings, where representatives from Kobre & Kim came to Malaysia.

At the meeting at the AGC, the government was represented by the attorney general and his officials as well as senior officials from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

According to him, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the refund of Jho Low’s alleged embezzlement from 1MDB.

He said that after the meeting, which was considered positive, the AGC suddenly canceled it for no known reason.

Commenting further, Mahathir said that Apandi’s actions also directly defended the crimes committed by Najib and his allies including Jho Low.

“Today the judges of the high court and the court of appeal have found that criminal acts continue to occur within 1MDB and sentenced Najib Razak to prison for offenses related to 1MDB.

“Apandi should feel guilty and sorry for his actions in preventing the 1MDB crimes from being brought to justice,” Mahathir said.
