GwiGwi.com – The arcade is one of the first things that many people who travel long distances to Akihabara notice when exiting the gates of a JR train station. Arcade GiGO (formerly SEGA) welcomes your journey through otaku paradise by singing the latest anime theme song, giving everyone the impression of being at home.
While many have these memories, no new memories will be made because of the GiGO Akihabara No. 4 has closed for the last time after 11 years of operation.
Thank you so much for the end!
We were able to welcome the grand finale while being surrounded by so many customers!
I can’t thank everyone enough for their support! !

On the last night, people thronged the laneway in front of the station to say goodbye to the arcades. The employees thanked customers who had visited the arcade for the past eleven years and expressed regret that they were unable to welcome them back.
GiGO revealed in August that the closure was due to the expiration of the building’s fixed term lease and the non-renewal of the contract to extend it.

This is the latest closure of the Akihabara arcade, following the August 2020 closure of the legendary Sega Akihabara Building 2 and the relocation of the popular Ikebukuro GiGO to a much smaller building on the same street. GiGO Akihabara No. 1, 3, and 5 continue to operate in that environment.
Since GiGO’s parent company, GENDO, acquired SEGA’s shares and became the majority shareholder of the company, all of SEGA’s arcades are currently going through the process of renaming.
