“The fact that Neve Campbell isn’t being paid what he’s worth is sexism. There. I’m telling you,” said Matthew Lillard.
More stars of the “Scream” franchise have come to the defense of Neve Campbell, after the actress revealed that she turned down a sixth film after getting an offer that was “not equal to the value I brought to the franchise.”
“Did Tom Cruise take less money for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’? N—no, so why should a woman take less?” said Matthew Lillard. “Why don’t you pay them more as the series continues? Was ‘Scream 5’ a success or not? It was a huge hit. Did they make a lot of money? Yes.”
“Should Neve Campbell be paid for the work she does in the five films of the franchise? Yes, because she is the female lead of one of the most successful horror franchises,” he continued, calling the situation “annoying.”
He later tweeted, “The fact that Neve Campbell is not being paid what he is worth is sexism. I think it’s terrible. There. I said it.”
Jamie Kennedy also talked about the franchise’s exit in a video he shared on YouTube.
“This is a clear example of how twisted this system can be. Sidney Prescott was the centerpiece of ‘Scream.’ Neve Campbell is the face of ‘Scream.’ Ghostface pursued it throughout the franchise,” he said. “The franchise will be rebooted. The franchise is more popular than ever. How did you make ‘Scream’ without Sidney Prescott? This is the story, the POV, the pain, everything is him. He is the hero.”
“It’s crazy that the people behind the scenes aren’t paying money to really face the franchise,” he added. “People who weren’t involved in the first place. This is all that’s wrong with this business.”
“It’s crazy that the people behind the scenes don’t pay money to actually face the franchise. This is everything that’s wrong with business. Hollywood is full of s—you don’t support women,” he continued. “Here’s your proof. He’s one of the most pure-hearted people you’ll ever meet. He gives himself 100% when he does something. Have you heard one bad thing about him? See his name on the news for anything? You see him on the news for anything. her job.”
If you support women, pay these women. Pay the price, it’s that simple. I know the fans want to see it, I know I want to see it. Are you kidding?
Jasmin Savoy Brown, who is joining the franchise for 2021’s “Scream” and will appear in the next film, also talked about Neve’s decision.
“I really respect her for that. I think it’s hard to be a woman in this industry and in any industry,” she told Variety. “If anyone, but especially any woman, feels that she deserves more – whether it’s a financial situation with a job, outside a relationship, or filling a void – if she can leave, I support that.”
He also said the script for the new film was “absolutely fantastic” and the franchise would “go on in a beautiful way.”
David Arquette has “Scream” co-star Neve Campbell, after the actress officially stepped down from the sixth film in the franchise.
On Monday, word broke that Campbell would not be reprising his role as Sidney in the next film, following an offer that, to him, “is not worth the value I bring to the franchise.” The announcement came just as Arquette was in the middle of a press day for her new video game, The Quarry — and it wasn’t long before she was asked to share her thoughts on her decision.

“I wanted him to be a part of it,” Arquette told ComicBook. “Filming Scream without Sidney is a bit of a shame, but I understand the decision. It’s all a business, they have to balance all these elements to fit within the budget and produce a film.”
“I see, he’s still alive! He [can] really in the future, but I think it’s up to the fans to call for that in the future,” he added. “It’s sudden, it’s business. I respect his decision, for sure.”
He also said that he wasn’t very “involved” in the sixth film, because [SPOILER ALERT] his character was killed in the fifth film.
“As a woman, I have had to work very hard in my career to build my values, especially when it comes to Scream,” Campbell said in her decision statement. “I felt the offer I was given was disproportionate to the value I was bringing to the franchise.”
“This is a very difficult decision to move on. To all my ‘Scream’ fans, I love you. You have always been very supportive of me,” he added. “I am forever grateful to you and for what this franchise has given me over the last 25 years.”
