Amsterdam-based DJ, audiovisual artist and curator Snufkin take their name from one of the central characters of Tove Jansson’s Moomin universe, an anti-materialist philosopher and tramp with an adventurous spirit and hatred of authority figures. From the very first moments of their gleeful Facts mix, as Bonaventure’s overwhelming whirlpool of fear is pierced by the text-to-speech calls of Varg2™-boosting anti-police music, it’s clear that the mischievous spirit of the iconic Jansson character lives on in Snufkin’s passionate approach. to play. “My focus has always been on maintaining a versatile and fun approach to picking and mixing and this mix is definitely an ode to that,” they assert. “With today’s nightlife culture, which seems too serious and predictable, I am constantly trying to restore a sense of excitement and excitement with my club set. While this record is definitely a statement to that end, it also made me realize that I miss playing with sound outside of a club setting, so this feels like the perfect ending and an exciting start to a new beginning.
