France’s choice to represent the country at the Oscars is already in, but Music Box Movie has gone ahead and earned the well-received Venetian title of ’21. Eric Gravel‘s Full time (alias Full time) received Best Director and Best Actress awards in the Horizons section and went on to cement them Laure Calamy is experiencing a definite turning moment in his career. Distrib is planning a 2023 release. Calamy has just returned from the same Venetian sidebar as The Origin of Evil – which also aired in Toronto.
It’s about a single mother (Calamy) who struggles to raise her two children in the suburbs while maintaining a demanding job as a butler at a luxury Paris hotel. When he finally lands a job interview for another position he has long hoped for, a nationwide strike breaks out, crippling the public transport system. The fragile balance that Julie had built was threatened. Julie then frantically races against time as she juggles a reluctant babysitter, hostile coworkers, an unreliable train, a broken boiler, and a host of other mundane obstacles that collectively produce an unstoppable force.
