Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson took the time to hold up a very fitting sign after Thursday night’s game.
Jackson and the Ravens outlasted Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 27-22 Thursday Night Football. After a lackluster first quarter, the Ravens found their rhythm on offense and scored three touchdowns in the second half en route to their second straight win.
While walking to the locker room, Jackson noticed a sign on the ground demanding that the Ravens pay the 2019 league MVP. Jackson brought it back near the players’ entrance, held it up and even posed with it for a few moments.
To make things even more fun, Jackson actually autographed the sign and gave it to one lucky Baltimore fan.
He finished Thursday night with a stellar stat line of 27 completions for 238 yards and two touchdowns without a single interception. Jackson also added nine carries for 43 yards rushing
Jackson is playing out the final season of his rookie contract. He’s by far the biggest name to potentially hit the free agent market in 2023, but it’s definitely hard to foresee the Ravens letting him walk.
The 24-year-old has produced another excellent season, which should only increase the value of his next contract. Jackson has the Ravens sitting at 5-3 and atop the AFC North division with nine games to go.
On Thursday, the Ravens were bolstered by a potent rushing attack that racked up 231 yards and a score on 33 carries. After giving up 10 points in the first quarter, Baltimore’s defense put up shutouts in the second and third frames before allowing 12 in the fourth.
Baltimore can now enjoy a longer break between games as they don’t play until Nov. 7 against the New Orleans Saints in Monday Night Football. Meanwhile, the Bucs will look to get back on track when they host the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams in Week 9.
