PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Human Resources (KSM) approved 541,315 quotas of foreign workers as of September 26 and of that number, 436,613 quotas have paid retribution.
KSM said, taking into account the existing 1.3 million foreign workers and the number of approved quotas of 541,315, this number almost met the industry’s need for absorption of foreign workers.
He said the need for foreign workers in Malaysia is around 1.8 million and this is the maximum number ever achieved.
“So far, there are 1.3 million foreign workers in sectors that are allowed to recruit and use foreign workers, including the informal sector.
“At the same time, more than 612,000 foreign workers were registered and passed the Security and Health Examination (PKK) in the source country, while there were 228,321 foreign workers or the equivalent of 37.3 percent who had been approved by Visa with Reference by the Immigration Department awaiting their arrival in this country. , ” he said in his statement today.
KSM said that discussions had been held with the industry regarding the issue of the entry of foreign workers and were informed that industries, such as the plantation sector, which were given quota approval, would not bring in foreign workers all at once.
He said that recruitment would be carried out in stages according to the needs and plans of entrepreneurs, because they have up to 18 months to bring in foreign workers after the retribution payment is paid off. – NAMED
