Chronology, Madiun – A warehouse with a large enough volume to accommodate used goods on Jalan Basuki Rahmat, Madiun, East Java, was engulfed by the red rooster, Wednesday night (28/9/2022).
Before growing and burning everything, the fire was first known to have originated from under the car parked in the warehouse. A moment later, the flames immediately grabbed the various kinds of junk stored in the vicinity.
The flames became even more intense due to strong winds at the scene. In no time, the flammable junk turned into charcoal.
“Earlier, residents and road users were the first to know about it. Traffic jam. I was forced to turn right,” said Wahyu, a motorist who was about to pass while adding that the situation in the dark location was because the PLN lighting was out.
The fire incident was also marked by at least two loud explosions that sounded like fireworks. However, it is not yet known whether the explosion originated from gas cylinders, PLN network transformers or others.
The fire that was indiscriminately raged was only successfully controlled by the Madiun City Government Fire Department. A total of five units of fire engines, one perkim car, one BPBD supply car and an ambulance intervened to tame it.
“Thank God, we have managed to contain the fire. It’s just a matter of wetting to make sure the fire is completely extinguished,” said Bagong, a local firefighter.
Although there are parties who say it was caused by cigarette butts and an electric short circuit, it is not yet known for sure what caused the fire. When the fire broke out, there were several motorbikes and cars in the warehouse, all of which were confirmed to have been burned.
There were no reports of casualties or injuries from the incident. However, material losses are estimated at hundreds of millions of rupiah.
Currently, the local police are still providing security at the scene. The police are trying to interview a number of eyewitnesses to determine the cause of the fire.
