Arizona Cardinals pass rusher JJ Watt got emotional in opening up about the heart problem that brought him to the hospital on Thursday.
Watt played most of Arizona’s 26-16 win over the Cleveland Browns yesterday. After the game, he became foggy talking about an emotional week for him and his entire family.
“Obviously, it’s been a very emotional week for my family, for my wife, for myself,” Watt said, via New York Post. “So I’m very happy to win today. Obviously, I have a lot of emotions, but I’ve learned to appreciate the little things more, so it was nice to win today.”
Watt revealed that he spoke to a number of doctors from across the country about his heart condition. He said they explained that there was nothing else to do other than what he had already done and was given the green light to return to training.
“I spoke to cardiologists and electrophysiologists from all over the country,” Watt said. “I was convinced time and again from many people that there is nothing more you can do. I can play as usual and something can happen the next day or never again in 20 years. So I’m confident and I’m back in training on Friday and here we are.”
JJ Watt finished the game with three tackles and two passes defended, giving him six tackles, two sacks and three passes defended this season.
Going forward, it seems we will have to pay more attention to Watt and his health to avoid another scare like this.
Should JJ Watt play this weekend?
