The man and his partner were arrested by a law enforcement team from the Kulim Regency Religious Office (PADK) at a hotel in Kulim Regency last night.
The couple failed to produce any documents proving they had a married partner or a mahram relationship the two said in a hotel room at 10.15pm. Daily Metro.
Hide under the bed to avoid getting caught
During the raid, the man was found hiding under a bed to avoid being caught by the authorities, but failed.
Kulim District Religious Enforcement Officer, Anwar Shariffudin Mat Saad, said the 24-year-old man was believed to be from Perak because he had work to do before meeting the woman.
“They were then taken to the police station to make an arrest report before taking statements.
“This case is being investigated pursuant to Section 25(a)(b) of the 2014 Kedah Sharia Criminal Offenses Act.
“The penalty can be fined not more than RM3,000 or two years in prison or both,” he said when contacted today.
