President Jokowi and President of FIFA held a meeting in the Jepara Room. The two of them discussed various important matters related to Indonesian football, especially after the football tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, East Java on October 1, 2022.
During the meeting, football related aspects were discussed, starting from stadium management and its supporting facilities, security management, match management, especially timing, to supporter management. The agreement ensures that all aspects of the match run according to the safety standards set by FIFA.
Kanjuruhan Stadium Renovation
In addition, the Indonesian government and FIFA also agreed to conduct a review of all stadiums in Indonesia.
As part of the transformation, President Joko Widodo said he would renovate the Kanjuruhan Stadium. The plan is that there will be the use of the latest technology so that the Kanjuruhan tragedy at that time would not be repeated.
According to the President, the new Kanjuruhan Stadium will be an example for other stadiums in Indonesia. What is most emphasized is that players and spectators of football matches must be guaranteed their safety.
