P1-M Drug Possession High School Student Arrested
Authorities arrested a high school student for allegedly possessing P1 million worth of illegal drugs.
In the raid operation carried out this Tuesday in Pottan, Iloilo, a joint team from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Iloilo Provincial Police Station and the Pototan City Police Station (MPS) detained the high school student. .
The suspect, identified in the report as Lance Florida, is a 21-year-old resident of Rizal Street in the city mentioned. Florida has been identified as a carrier for a drug cartel operating in District 3 in Iloilo province, according to Captain Francis Albert Fortunado of IPPO-PDEU.
Fortunado claims that it took months to try to carry out an anti-drug operation against Florida because the latter would drop the banned substance elsewhere and make payments using GCash. However, undercover officers managed to persuade Florida to strike a deal outright, according to the report.
The suspect’s discovery with methamphetamine and cash transfers of a poseur buyer in an anticipated search operation in the city’s Barangay Rumbang marked his arrest. The suspect was found in possession of around 150 grams of crystal methamphetamine worth Rp. 1,020,000.
The suspect is considered by authorities to be a high-value individual (HVI) distributing drugs in the targeted city. While the evidence in question is being collected, the suspect is being held at MPS Pototan. Republic Act No. 9165, often known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will apply to Florida.
