A new public appeal has been launched in the hopes a member of the public can help locate a man who has been missing from Victoria for the last 56 years.

Ronald Peter Owen was last seen as a teenager at his family home on Norman Street in Wendouree West in 1966.

His family believe he may have travelled to New South Wales shortly after, however, police say he was not reported as missing at the time of his disappearance.

Now, NSW police are calling for public to help find Owen, after a family member attended a pop-up familial DNA collection program – an initiative of the NSW Police Missing Persons Registry – on July 15.

He provided a sample of his DNA and reported Owen’s disappearance in a bid to help find his relative.

State Crime Command’s Missing Persons Registry officers are now investigating Owen’s whereabouts.

At the time of his disappearance, he was 18 years old and is described as of solid build, Caucasian appearance, with a fair complexion and brown hair.

Today, Owen would be 75 years old.
