Goldstein Alternative Winner in Himes Race

To the Editor:

Fairfield County Republicans are lucky enough to have an excellent candidate for Congress to fight Jim Himes – Dr. Michael Goldstein.

A 72-year-old ophthalmologist and lawyer, Dr. Goldstein could easily enjoy cruises and exotic vacations with his beautiful wife. Instead, motivated purely by patriotism, Dr. Goldstein decided to run.

Connecticut is one of the few states that still allow party insiders to vote for candidates and that’s exactly what they did. Neither of their picks has come close to beating Jim Himes in the past. In fact, 538 pollsters ran 40,000 simulations and concluded that party insiders’ picks had a less than 1% chance of winning.

But Dr. Goldstein fought all odds, getting tons of petitions in a short amount of time and earning the right to vote for the party’s insiders. And if the Republican primary voter chooses Dr. Goldstein, he will beat Jim Himes because there are quite a lot of ideological differences between the two candidates.

It’s time for Fairfield Connecticut Republicans to have a choice for their candidate against Jim Himes. And this time, they will choose the winner Dr. Michael Goldstein.
