Daniel “Vorborg” Vorborg, the expert behind all the Copenhagen Flames rosters, is close to signing with Evil Geniuses to coach his main CS: GO team, according to a report by Blix.
The formation centered around Timothy “autimatic” Ta has not had a coach since Damien “maLeK” Marcel was moved to the bench in May after EG failed to qualify for the PGL Antwerp Major. The Frenchman is alleged to have struggled with the squad. Former captain Jake “Stewie2K” Yip was called up by maLeK assistant coach Paolo “EVY” Berbudeau for having a bad attitude and lack of professionalism during their stay.
Vorborg, on the other hand, has been a free agent since June 2022. He left the Copenhagen Flames, his only team since 2016, in all capacities following a transfer the organization registered the entire roster to put together a new one. The 30-year-old Dane has a strong track record of recruiting unproven talent in Denmark or providing opportunities to players on the touchline.
The former Copenhagen Flames director and esports coach notably brought together a core of Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi, Jakob “Jabbi” Nygaard, and Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen. The trio led the Copenhagen Flames to two Major appearances, first at the PGL Stockholm Major in 2021 and then at the PGL Antwerp Major in 2022, where they reached the playoffs under Vorborg’s tutelage.
As well as reportedly acquiring Vorborg, EG is also on the verge of signing Kevin “misutaaa” Rabier of Team Vitality and Sanjar “neaLaN” shakov of K23, according to 1pv.fr. The international duo will replace William “RUSH” Wierzba and Stewie2K. The latter left today’s competitive arena to become a streamer under the EG brand.
