According to the Head of the Postgraduate Doctoral Program in Social Sciences, Pasundan University, Prof. Soleh Suryadi, explained, the results of the visit to UGM were very meaningful, “We thank the Postgraduate School and the UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Postgraduate Program, which have received the visit. The information we receive is very useful, especially in the process of implementing the Program,” he said.
He added, in principle, the implementation of the Program at the two Universities has many similarities. “The program at Unpas Postgraduate is carried out by the Doctoral program and the Master’s program, while at UGM, the relevant science programs are carried out in their respective faculties, both the Doctoral program and the Master program. Meanwhile, those that are cross-field or multi-disciplinary or trans-disciplinary are carried out by UGM graduate schools,” he explained.
There is a slight difference in the mentoring process, in Postgraduate UGM there is one promoter with two promoter members, while in the Doctoral program of Social Sciences, Postgraduate Unpas there are two promoters, one promoter and one promoter member. “At the time of testing, both during closed and open sessions in the Social Sciences Doctoral program, the Unpas Postgraduate Program was tested by six examiners from the UNPAS postgraduate DIS and one other examiner was a professor outside Unpas with relevant scientific fields,” he concluded.
Regarding the deadline for completing the Doctoral program, the minimum is 3 to 4 years. Another comparison, the Unpas Postgraduate Social Science Doctoral Program has a characteristic course, namely at the time of marticulation there are Islamic and Sundanese courses and in semester 1 there is a Kapita Selekta Socio-Cultural course.(tie)
