BARCELONA Barcelona has been excluded from the 2022-2023 Champions League after losing the competition to Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. Coach Xavi Hernandez admitted that Barcelona’s failure was his fault.
Barcelona certainly failed to progress to the round of 16 as Inter earned a crushing victory over Viktoria Plzen. In addition, Barcelona were also massacred 0-3 by Bayern Munich at the Camp Nou on Thursday (27/10/2022) in the early hours of the morning.
Sadio Mane (10′), Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (31′) and Benjamin Pavard (90+5′) scored the winning goals for Bayern Munich. This result makes the Blaugrana-Barcelona nickname relegated to the 2022-2023 Europa League.
After the match, Xavi admitted the cruelty of the Champions League. The Spanish coach also apologized for the failure to pass the club of the pride of the Catalan public.
“I have already said that this competition (Champions League) is cruel, but today we fell because of our mistakes. We were eliminated because of our mistakes. But we must go on. We have to react”, said Xavi brand, Thursday (27/10/2022).
“We will give everything (in other competitions). We are sorry. We want to leave. We will continue to work. We will be able to compete for the remaining four titles (Copa Del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, La Liga and Europa League).
Meanwhile, Barcelona has one more match in the 2022-2023 Champions League group stage. In the final match, the Blaugrana will face Viktoria Plzen at the Doosan Arena on Wednesday 2 November 2022.
