Moussa Djeti and Sebastian Driosi each scored three minutes in the first half and defeated Austin FC Dallas 2-1 Sunday night in the Western Conference semifinals of the MLS Cup playoffs.
Second seed Austin advances to the conference final against top seed LAFC on Sunday.
In the 26th minute, Getty kicked a skewed corner kick into the top of the goal area and pulled the ball past Dallas goalkeeper Martin Pace to take a 1-0 lead.
In the 29th minute, Driosi stole the ball near the midfield, dribbling the field, deceived one of the defenders and fired a shot from the top of the penalty area, with Pais winning on his right side. It was Driosi’s third goal in the playoffs after scoring 22 goals in the regular season.
Austin’s 2-0 lead held up until Alan Velasco picked up 3-seeded Dallas in the 65th minute.
One week after recovering from a 2-0 down to overtake Real Salt Lake, Austin didn’t allow Dallas to do the same. Austin beat his state rival for the first time, having gone 0-3 against Dallas in 2021 and 0-0-2 in the 2022 regular season.
