ASUS Officially Launches Zenfone 7, here are the detailed specifications & prices – ASUS has just announced two of its newest flagship smartphones, the ASUS Zenfone 7 and Zenfone 7 Pro. The launch event was conducted live streaming in Taiwan. What are the specifications of these two new ASUS heroes? Here’s the review.

This phone model continues from the previous generation, ASUS Zenfone 6. Comes with a design that is not much different, both models come with rotatable camera settings. The most prominent differences may lie in the chipset used, RAM, and storage capacity.

ASUS Zenfone 7 comes with support chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, while the ‘Pro’ variant uses the Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset. In terms of performance, these two SoCs actually don’t have too much of a difference.

Turning to the storage configuration section, Zenfone 7 comes with two choices of LPDDR5 RAM sizes, namely 6GB and 8GB. As for internal storage, this model relies on 128GB of UFS 3.1 memory. While for Zenfone 7 Pro, this variant brings 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB internal storage of UFS 3.1 type. Both models provide external memory expansion slots of up to 2TB capacity.

Continuing to the screen, both models are equipped with a 6.6-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD + resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels). The screen carries support for a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, and without a fingerprint sensor in it. Unlike previously circulated information, it turns out that ASUS has placed a fingerprint reader sensor on the side of the body.

Both models also carry a battery with the same capacity, namely a Li-Po battery measuring 5,000 mAh complete with 30W fast charging feature. ASUS has embedded several fast charging technologies at once in these two new phone models, such as the ASUS Hypercharger, Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0, and USB Power Deliver 3.0. Unfortunately, both models don’t carry wireless charging support.

Similar camera but not the same

Moving on to the most prominent part of this model, the camera. Both models again come with camera specifications’almost‘ same. Why do we say almost? You could say that even though the camera configuration used is the same, there are differences in features between the two.

ASUS embeds three lenses at once in a square module in both models. The three lenses consist of, 64MP main lens (4-in-1 pixel binning, Sony IMX686 sensor, f / 1.8 aperture, 0.8um pixel size, PDAF, EIS), 12MP ultrawide lens (Sony IMX363 sensor, FoV 113 degrees, aperture f/2.2, Dual PDAF, 4cm macro photography), and an 8MP telephoto lens (3x optical zoom, 12x total zoom, f/2.4 aperture).

Then what is the difference between the regular and Pro variants? The answer lies in the OIS support which is only present in the Pro variant. On the Zenfone 7 Pro model, the main lens and telephoto lens are equipped with OIS support for better shooting stability. While in the regular model, this feature is not present.

Both these phone models do not have a front camera. As a replacement, ASUS presents a flip camera design or rotate on its main camera. Yes, in addition to acting as the main camera, the three lenses also act as secondary cameras or front cameras.

For the operating system, both models come with Android 10 which has been customized using ASUS ZenUI 7. The appearance itself is quite clean, almost close to the stock Android UI, it’s just that there are some improvements added. ASUS into it.

Price & availability

The ASUS Zenfone 7 is priced at around $750, while the Zenfone 7 Pro is priced at $950 in Taiwan. The two of them will definitely be available for global market, which means it will be released in other countries outside of Taiwan. Unfortunately, there is no information whether these two models will also enter Indonesia or not.
