The Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Thuwar Chand Gilot, has launched a national portal for transgender people to obtain ID cards and certificates.

This national portal is specially made for people of both genders to come forward and build their community by obtaining ID card and transgender certification.

The main motive behind this is to make transgender people feel equal and free and that they can also be included in all rights and actions.

The National Portal for Third National Identity Cards

The Minister said this National Transgender Portal was developed within two months of the notification of the Transgender (Protection of Rights) Rules, 2020 on September 29, 2020.

This National Council for Transgender People enables this transgender person to apply for a transgender certificate and ID card from anywhere in the country without visiting any government office.

The Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Thuwar Chand Gilot, said the government hopes that this portal will help transgender people to apply and obtain transgender certificates and ID cards according to their “perceived identity”, which is among the most important provisions. It is one of the Transgender (Protection of Rights) Act of 2019.

The Transgender Department also plans to open shelters for transgender people in every state. The first transgender shelter was opened in Vadodara, Gujarat, in the presence of Ministers of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar, Ramdas Athwali and Ratan Lal Kataria, along with Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi, a member of the National Transgender Council.

The main objective of the National Portal is to enable people from the transgender community to apply and obtain gender certifications online quickly and easily.

  • Upon successful registration, the system will send a confirmation email with the credentials.

  • First visit the official NTP website at trangender.dosje.gov.in.
  • Now on the main page enter your username, password and captcha code.
  • Click Next button Sign in.
  • Enter your order number.
  • Now the transgender ID card will be displayed on the screen.
  • Download or copy it.

The National Portal for the New Transgender Application

  • Go to the official link that will have the dashboard for obtaining a sex certificate
  • There are now three (3) options “New Request”, “History of My Activities” and “Complaint”
  • Select a new app in it, there are two categories in it –
  • Transgender certificate and ID card
  • Modified identity certificate
  • Now enter the details and select the signature option.
  • The transgender certificate and ID card will be displayed on the screen.

How to get a transgender certificate

  • Select your region and state from the dropdown list.
  • Now enter the name and change the name with capital letters.
  • Now select the name that will be printed on the certificate.
  • Enter the parent’s name or contact number.
  • Select the given gender and apply the desired ab from the dropdown list
  • Enter your annual income and educational qualifications.
  • Select your date of birth to choose the date, month and year from the selected calendar.
  • Now you have to select any one document from the given list and upload the appropriate document.
  • Now click on the “Browse” button.
  • The selected file will be loaded with the image displayed on the screen.
  • Now click on the “Download” button.
  • You can add more documents with pictures by clicking the Add More button.
  • You can see the same after uploading the document.
  • Now enter the permanent address.
  • Enter your full address for communication including plot number/house number, street/area name, landmark etc.
  • Enter the name of your city/town/village.
  • Enter a valid password.
  • Click the “Save” and “Next” button.
