Alisson and Diogo Jota absent from strengthening Liverpool for Community Shield

Jakarta ( – Main goalkeeper Alisson Becker and striker Diogo Jota are confirmed to be absent from strengthening Liverpool, who will play England’s new season marker match, Community Shield, against Manchester City at King Power Stadium, Leicester, Saturday (30/7) tomorrow .

This was conveyed by Liverpool manager, Juergen Klopp, in a pre-match press conference on Thursday as quoted from Liverpool’s official website.

Klopp said Alisson had returned to full training after being injured following the pre-season clash against Manchester United in Bangkok, but the Brazilian goalkeeper was ruled out of the Community Shield.

However, he hopes Alisson is fit enough to play in the Premier League’s inaugural match week 2022-23 at Fulham headquarters on Saturday (6/8) next week.

Meanwhile, Jota Klopp confirmed that he will be absent from Community Sield because he is still experiencing muscle problems.

“No, Alisson and Diogo are impossible. Ali trained more today than yesterday so maybe he is ready to play against Fulham, but not this weekend,” Klopp said.

“So is Diogo. Diogo didn’t even train with us today so how could you expect him to play. Unfortunately, this looks like it will take some time. That’s how it is,” he added.

The Community Shield is a match marking the new season of English football that pits the FA Cup winners with the previous season’s Premier League winners.

Last season Liverpool ended up winning two trophies namely the FA Cup and the English League Cup, while the Premier League title was successfully defended by Manchester City.
