Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Andres Centino today officially visited the grave of former President Fidel V. Ramos at Heritage Park in Taguig City.

During the visit of General Centino, he gave a ‘snappy salute’ right in front of former President Ramos’ lips as the highest recognition and respect from the uniformed service ranks.

According to Centino, former President Ramos was a great leader who truly served the people and the AFP.

Centino said AFP would pay full military respects to the late former president on the day of his funeral on Tuesday in Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Meanwhile, Centino will be accompanied by Vice Admiral Adeluis Bordado, the Flag Officer at the Philippine Naval Command.

More than a thousand soldiers will participate in the military honor of the former commander-in-chief

It is estimated that around 1,200 members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines will attend the state funeral of former president Fidel V Ramos.

In an interview, Philippine Army Spokesman Col. Xerxes Trinidad, this does not include the troops and police who will conduct security from Heritage Park in Taguig City before Ramos is escorted to his final destination in Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Among the activities to be held for the full military honors that will be awarded to the FVR are the honoring of 21 weapons from all major military camps, the arrival award, the wearing of the ‘Morning Badge’ and a separate final weapons salute.

According to Trinidad, this is because they give respect and recognition for all the contributions to society and the country from their former commander-in-chief.

Currently, the TNI is still preparing programs and ceremonies that they will hold on Tuesday.

Yesterday, a dry run was also held for this at Heritage Park.
