JAKARTA, Nawacita – AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2022 standings, the Indonesian Futsal National Team opened the opportunity to qualify for the 2022 Futsal Asian Cup quarter-finals after defeating Lebanon 7-2, Friday night, 30 September 2022.
The result of the match which took place at Saad Al Abdullah Hall, Kuwait, made Indonesia temporarily in second place in Group C standings with three points from two matches. Previously, last Wednesday, Indonesia lost 0-5 to Iran. Ranking in both groups is a minimum requirement to advance to the last eight of the tournament.
In order to ensure a place in the knockout stages, Indonesia must win the final match against Taiwan, Sunday, October 2. If it is really able to seal a slot in the quarter-finals, it will be Indonesia’s first achievement during its participation in the Asian Futsal Cup.
Results vs Lebanon
In the match against Lebanon, Indonesia controlled the game from the start. The Garuda squad took the lead through Rio Pangestu’s close-range shot (3 minutes). Four minutes later, Muhammad Fajriyan doubled Indonesia’s lead to 2-0.
After that, Indonesia was unstoppable and closed the first half with a score of 3-0 thanks to an additional goal from Firman Adriansyah (19′).
After the break, Indonesia, which was trained by Iranian tactician Mohammad Hashemzadeh, did not reduce the pressure. Mochammad Iqbal put Indonesia 4-0 away before Lebanon closed the gap from Hassan Zeitoun’s goal (25′).

However, Indonesia consistently maintained its leadership in the match after Dewa Rizki netted the ball in the 27th minute. Left behind 1-5, Lebanon implemented a “power play” strategy, but that strategy actually resulted in the sixth goal for Indonesia, contributed by Reza Gunawan (37′). Lebanon pinched Indonesia again seconds later with a goal from Steve Koukezian.
Indonesia then ended the match with a 7-2 victory because Syauqi Saud’s long-range shot broke into the Lebanese goal. Next, Indonesia will play temporary caretaker Group C Taiwan on Sunday (2 October).
Taiwan has not recorded a single win in Group C. On Saturday morning WIB, they lost 1-10 to Iran. On Sunday, October 2nd, leaders and defending Asian Futsal Cup champions Iran will test the power of third-placed Lebanon.
