A man was thrown from a vehicle in a fatal SR-99 crash in Turlock

MODESTO, California (KTXL) — The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal accident that occurred Friday along State Route 99 near Turlock.

According to the CHP, a 54-year-old man from Hughson was pronounced dead at the scene after finding his 2005 Chevy SUV showing major crash damage.

Law enforcement said the man was traveling south in an SR-99 when he began to lose control of the Chevy and made a sharp right turn, heading for lane number three.

The vehicle came off the west bank of the road where it overturned several times, according to CHP.

CHP said the man was not wearing his seat belt at the time and was thrown from the vehicle and the Chevy eventually came to a stop on its wheels west of the west side of Fulkerth on an incline.

It is unclear at this time whether drugs and/or alcohol contributed to the crash, according to CHP.
