Barbarian is quickly becoming the must-see of the 2022 Halloween season, and one of the most talked about aspects of the film is its killer soundtrack.
While the directors, actors, and editors (responsible for those oh-so-important jump shots) all have a hand to play in creating a horror film, a perfect accompanying soundtrack can turn the film from spooky to terrifyingly terrifying. Think John Williams’ menacing theme to Jaws, Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells from The Exorcist and the iconic Goblin chant for Dario Argento’s horror classic Suspiria (1977). All of these musical offerings turned these movies into the legendary Halloween movies that they are.
The soundtrack for Barbarian is already being hailed as one of the best horror fans have heard in years, even having a Reddit thread created in its praise. Let’s take a look at all the music featured on the Barbarian (2022) soundtrack.

Ravishing viewers praise its ‘perfect’ soundtrack
Ever since Barbarian hit US theaters on September 9, 2022, the movie’s soundtrack has been talked about non-stop.
“Barbarian is a fun horror movie. The cinematography is beautiful, the soundtrack is perfect. Now you think that’s what the movie is about, but you’d be very wrong,” one viewer posted on Twitter in praise.
“The Barbarian is a godsend, a uniquely satisfying watch; from the bop’ing soundtrack to the wildly unique plot,” another posted on Twitter.
But fans of the film also came online stuck on the same question: where is the result available online? Most theatrical productions accompany their releases with the release of the soundtrack. In the case of Barbarian, the score and soundtrack are nowhere to be found.

Anna Drubich was responsible for the Barbarian (2022) soundtrack.
While the horror film was filled with popular songs like “Riki Tiki Tavi” and “Be My Baby”, one of the most compelling elements of the film was its haunting score.
Russian composer Anna Drubich is responsible for the Barbarian (2022) soundtrack. Drubich was born in Moscow on June 27, 1984 in what was once the USSR. She would earn a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at the Munich School of Performing Arts (between 2002-2008) before pursuing a career in feature films.
From August 2011 to May 2012, Drubich studied at the University of Southern California as part of the prestigious Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program.
Anna Drubich has composed for other horror films
It’s no surprise that Anna Drubich was an apt choice to dictate the sound of the barbarian. In the past, Drubich has worked on many horror projects creating ominous soundtracks and scores.
The composer has often worked for Netflix. Last year saw Drubich compose the soundtracks for Werewolves Within, Fear Street: Part One – 1994 and Fear Street: Part Three – 1666.
You can stream Barbarian on HBO Max now. It arrives in UK cinemas on 28 October 2022.
