So far the feature has been largely limited to Apple-branded headphones, but the more affordable 1More audio brand appears to be breaking new ground by introducing Spatial Audio with head-tracking technology in the all-new Aero wireless earbuds at a very low price. .
The feature-packed earbuds also offer improved noise cancellation over the company’s predecessor’s ears, and are packed into the company’s proprietary AI-powered Smart Loudness technology, which calls for more listen better at lower volumes by automatically lowering the volume. The EQ curve is adjusted to save details.
The earbuds feature 10mm carbon-coated drivers that keep the Aero at 4.9g per bud, while the acoustic stage is tuned by Grammy Award-winning sound engineer Luca Bignardi.
There’s no doubting Aero’s big business card, though, with Aero’s Spatial Audio support set making use of gyroscopes built into both grips, which 1More says can create a 3D surround sound stage that adapts to head movements.
This feature might put the Aero alongside Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 3, both of which feature Dynamic Head Tracking for spatial audio as their main selling point.
What’s not clear at this point is whether the Eros is compatible with Dolby Atmos music/movies or Apple’s proprietary spatial audio platform – we’ve reached out to a 1More spokesperson and will update when we have confirmation.
Outside of Spatial Audio, there’s also support for Bluetooth 5.2, with the Aero being able to connect to two devices simultaneously, Qi wireless charging and an impressive 28 hours of playback from the built-in battery. Meanwhile, the fast charging feature provides up to three hours of playback time after just 15 minutes of plugging in.
The earbuds have what 1More claims is the best-ever noise-cancelling performance of a range of earbuds, with a frequency range of 40Hz to 4000Hz. Aero comes with five different ANC modes, including a softer mode for quieter environments, as well as an Adaptive Noise Cancelling mode that automatically adjusts the amount of noise cancellation based on ambient noise from outside. Transparency mode simultaneously amplifies ambient sounds and noise.
1More Aero is official at $109/£99 but is currently available on Amazon for $20/£20 via coupons or through the 1More private US site (Opens in a new tab) And the UK site (Opens in a new tab) With the code “AERO20”.
Analysis: A 3D feature sets the Eros apart from other budget headphones — but can they match the AirPods?
1MORE has built a solid reputation for its headphones, offering performance that is beyond reasonable prices.
Their triple driver earbuds earned five stars in our review a few years ago, and they remain one of our top picks in our Best Earphones Guide. Meanwhile, the 1MORE Sonoflow over-ear headphones with ANC scored 4 and a half stars in our last review.
However, the addition of spatial audio tracking is a huge development for the brand, as it’s a feature not yet seen in true wireless headphones in this category.
Outside of Apple’s newer AirPods, only the more expensive Beats Studio Buds, Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, Buds Live, Buttons 2, and LG’s T90 Tone Free have similar technology.
The big question is how far the Eros offers 3D surround sound compared to its more expensive competitors. We can’t wait to put the buttons and their title feature to the test — stay tuned for a full review on disposal in the future.
